Rick Court's Blog

Here is my editorial design for Rick Court's blog. I was instructed to read his blog, and come up with a type of design for his blog. It's not the quality that I want it. But I still enjoy it.

IF: Propagate

A simple illustration for the word propagate. It was a real challenge for me to do this word. However, in the end I took it literal, and it ended up as a simple plant in some dirt. :)

Made on Photoshop CS3, and Illustrator CS3.

Toast man with PB&J

Hello everyone. I thought I would show you a little piece of my insanity via the internet. I've been drawing these really elementary looking guys alot lately, and I still have no clear idea way. I really dislike peanut butter, it disgusts me. Though, jam is alright when it is on some english muffins. Eh, I guess whatever makes me happy. :)

Really Basic Thumbnails - Storyboard Creation - Part One

This is the starting of my storyboard for a commercial about Trix cereal.

To start this process, I first watched a lot of Trix commercials, on various websites, such as youtube.com. I also found some reading, which I skimmed through of course about Trix, and how it came to be and what not. I then wanted to follow along with the traditional theme of "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids". However, I played on the words to advertise it to adults, rather then children. And, there you have it, my really basic thumbnails for my Trix cereal commerical. Hurrah

IF: Muddy

A very literal interpretation of the word muddy. It still needs abit more work, but I am pleased with it.

Snorgtees.com Advertisement

Hello everyone. It's been a couple of days since I posted anything. So here is my post.

I made this advertisement back in 2007 for a ad competition for snorgtees.com. I won second place in this contest. The design that is on the advertisement is a shirt that is sold on snorgtees.com. I liked the t-shirt a lot, and it also worked very well with a sidebar type of ad.

At this time I deciding was what I should do with my life/career, and I believe this advertisement was the driving force of what made me interested in Graphic Design.

Cereal Magazine Ad

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is well. Sorry I haven't posted for awhile.

Anyways... To follow up with my previous Trix post.. here is the final result of what I created using Photoshop CS3, and a pencil. I will show in stages of my creative process.

Step 1
I first found a picture of the Trix bunny from the 70s I then drew it as it from the photo I have found on the internet. Also, while doing this I was thinking of some slogans for my magazine ad.

Step 1.2
I noticed the picture did look kind of odd, so I changed the outer stroke to just a normal stroke, and changed some features as they looked a bit wonky.

Step 2
I then added colour digitally to the Trix bunny to make him more childlike. I also drew him childlike, to give it more of a feel of childhood. I think he came out pretty decent.

Step 3 - Final Step
I then added some disco styled text, and alittle bit of skating rink, so that he has a place to skate on with his rollerblades. Added the box at the bottom, so the viewers understand what the adverstisement is about. And, there we have it, a magazine ad with the Trix bunny from the 70s.
